The Heart Behind the Lens: Why I Capture Your Story

Have you ever wondered what drives a photographer? What lies behind the lens, beyond the technical skill and the beautiful images? Today, I’m sharing a glimpse into the heart of L’amour de Paris Photographers, a personal look at why we are so passionate about capturing your memories. Press play to discover what powers my own passion and why your story matters so deeply to me. Keep reading below for more insights from our team about WHY printed memories matter to us.

I was so impressed with the stories that Megan, our incredible office manager, recounted when I asked her why printed memories matter to her, and what kind of impact they have in her life. So much so that it was hard to choose between the four she sent me, but for now, we will continue with the Paris theme, and the experience she had for her own Paris mother/daughter photo session.

“My daughter and I had the chance to go to Paris for spring break 2024. We hope to return one day, but spent our trip like it was the opportunity of a lifetime. We’d never been out of the country, and certainly not to the most beautiful city in the world! After returning home we had photos from our Paris portrait session printed, and then we gifted them to our family members for birthdays and holidays throughout the year. Each member of the family LOVED the photos. It was expressed to me many times that some of our family (who most likely won’t get the chance to go to Paris) enjoyed living vicariously through our dream trip. For Christmas, one of my friends gifted US a large print of my daughter and I in Paris. Even though we were obviously there for the photo, it was like seeing the Eiffel Tower for the first time all over again! I was ready to hang it up in our living room when my daughter burst into tears. She wanted it to hang up in her room. There was a brief battle of where it would be hung up, but the tween won this time. I really did think she was kind of being dramatic, but her reasoning for wanting the photo in her room brought ME to tears. She let me know that she remembers our trip very well, but seeing the print in such a large size made her feel like we were in Paris again. Even if we do return to Paris again, it will never be the same as our first trip. Never again will it be the first time we left the country, the first time we traveled together just she and I, never again will I get to take another photo of her living her best life just before middle school. I’m grateful to have had a photo session and the opportunity to take us right back to Paris. Now I need to order one for the living room!!”

If you’re willing to share, we’d love to know why your printed memories are so important to you!
