I had no idea this post was going this direction when I sat down to pull some images. Even the suggested music that landed in front of my eyes. 💕🩷 “There’s beauty in the ick.” I forget where I came across this phrase, but I saved it as soon as I saw it. To be honest, it’s the chapter I feel like I’m living this season. Life feels a little heavier. More to worry about. Constants in my life leaving. Reinventing the wheel professionally, and hoping people understand. Tons of work behind the scenes this season – but I do it because I love what I do. We want what we do to matter, to leave behind a legacy of our own.

Legacies aren’t always children. This Mother’s day week, I just want you to know I’m a girl behind a camera that’s happy and joyful and sometimes a complicated mess too. The due date for the loss of our third baby was this week 4 years ago. I often wonder what she would look like. What would she be up to at that age? How much would she have her daddy wrapped around her finger?

Grief is love that gets bottled up with nowhere to go. I pour my love into our clients’ memories with every click of the shutter. Don’t let these moments pass you by. Live in them, relish them, and by all means, print them. Your family, whatever that composition looks like, is your legacy.

Anyhow, all this was to come here and say thank you to one of our amazing repeat clients @akajayelle for messaging me Wednesday night to see if we wanted tickets to the L’Orangerie the next day that they couldn’t use. Doug’s schedule didn’t allow him to go. And at first I felt I had too much work. And then I took it as a sign from the universe that maybe I needed this moment of pause. So I did just that. I picked up the tickets and took myself on a date. I so love the water lily room. It can be full of people and you can still feel like you have it all to yourself for brief moments. I took a few minutes to sit at each end of the room, and in the middle too. I enjoyed the beauty and calmness of the art literally surrounding me.. And I studied how others were entering the room and enjoying the moment for themselves too. continued in last images above 👆
